VW/Porsche released the data for their 2001 SUV, among which a W18 engine with 450hp/600Nm, doing 265km/h and a V10 4.0L diesel, with 313hp, doing 227km/h (torque band not decided yet, should be close to 700Nm, and this is probably also why they haven't decided yet....it would need a stronger gearbox than the W18 engine....diesels are causing mechanical problems throughout the entire light-vehicle industry, from compact VW cars to V8 Audi/BMW/Mercedes diesels, especially since one box should fit as many engines as possible). Too bad the 12.0L double-V24 Maybach engine (Mercedes VIP model) can't be made to fit either a G- or M-class model....;-)) Oh, the Brabus V12 is 600hp I believe, so theoreticall that could become 1200hp....:-)))) -- Bye, Willem-Jan Markerink The desire to understand is sometimes far less intelligent than the inability to understand [note: 'a-one' & 'en-el'!] FROM: w.j.markerink@a1.nl (Willem-Jan Markerink) SUBJECT: Re: the fastest SUV? This is a single turbo btw, and a dual turbo version with 544kW/1144Nm has been featured in an Ozzie mag, but that one was owned someone in the Gulf. -- Bye, Willem-Jan Markerink The desire to understand is sometimes far less intelligent than the inability to understand [note: 'a-one' & 'en-el'!] FROM: w.j.markerink@a1.nl (Willem-Jan Markerink) SUBJECT: Re: the fastest SUV? Our is only mildly modified (intercooler, for more you need a larger turbo), but at 180km/h it drives smoother than a Mercedes car. (and leaves most of them in the dust at traffic lights anyway....torque is what counts, not hp).
