Reply-To: Volvo303@yahoogroups.com Good morning all, Last night i won on ebay a Swedish C303 operating manual and in an other bid a copy of "autocar" magazine from 1977 with a article about the C303. This got me thinking what was the cost of a civilian spec C303 and a military spec TGB in the seventys ? how well did thay sell ? how many were made ? Cheers Cliff To: Volvo303@yahoogroups.com From: "Willem-Jan Markerink" Date: Fri, 06 Jan 2006 17:42:06 +0100 Subject: Re: [Volvo303] C303 cost in the seventys ? The latter doesn't sound like anything we have seen before, so I hope you have a scanner....:)) > This got me thinking what was the cost of a civilian spec C303 and a > military spec TGB in the seventys ? There is some conflicting info about the civilian price, one early US- article mentioned something like US$20k (which sounds way too low to me), but a recent document came closer to 45k I believe. > how well did thay sell ? > how many were made ? 8718[*] units total, and only Malaysia was a significant export market (apparently, all the other country-specific trim-codes were just tentative export attempts, nothing materialized) [*] though I haven't seen any serial number above xxxx79xx; though not sure whether that is a) conclusive, and b) whether Volvo indeed used a continuous system, regardless of model (it starts with either "C34x4...." or "C36x6....") -- Bye, Willem-Jan Markerink The desire to understand is sometimes far less intelligent than the inability to understand [note: 'a-one' & 'en-el'!] To: Volvo303@yahoogroups.com From: "Willem-Jan Markerink" Date: Fri, 06 Jan 2006 18:05:49 +0100 Subject: Re: [Volvo303] C303 cost in the seventys ? Correction: 54.000 Swiss Franks in 1976. (about 30k euro....but mind the exchange-rate fluctuations with US$, and the inflation since (in current US$, it would be about 40-45k, without inflation) (for example/reference: a FJ55 Land Cruiser in Holland was priced around 10k euro at that time) -- Bye, Willem-Jan Markerink The desire to understand is sometimes far less intelligent than the inability to understand [note: 'a-one' & 'en-el'!] To: From: "Ari Kesti" Date: Fri, 13 Jan 2006 16:32:15 +0100 Subject: SV: [Volvo303] C303 cost in the seventys ? Reply-To: Volvo303@yahoogroups.com Swedish military paid for the TGB13 74k euro and TGB11 53k euro. This according to the military garage where I brought a totally wrecked TGB11 that my unit crashed. It had almost no milage on it. Ehh! This was 1993.
