I've now found that the tyre is fine but it is the wheel that is damaged - there is a small hole where the rim itself joins the spoke (if that's what you call it)? Whilst I'm sure many of you may have damaged wheels before, do you know if it is a known problem with the standard wheels? Do you recommend repair or replacement (still under new car warranty)? Thanks. If anyone suggests repair, kill him on the spot, so that he can do no more damage to other customers. A leak in a steel rim means rust, and it only takes so long for that rust to grow. I had a Mangel rim with the same problem....shop had never seen it before, welded it good & solid, few 1000km's later the rim split in half over several inches while driving....cost me US$500 for rim + tire in the middle of nowhere (Spain). Don't accept any repair, only a new rim.... -- Bye, Willem-Jan Markerink The desire to understand is sometimes far less intelligent than the inability to understand [note: 'a-one' & 'en-el'!] Date sent: Wed, 28 Mar 2001 12:04:21 -0800 (PST) From: Michael Ayukawa Subject: Re: [DTLC] 16" Wheels To: suedave@pond.com, Sheldon and Tawnya Walsh Copies to: dtlc@helios.net Send reply to: dtlc@helios.net David Dannenberg --- suedave@pond.com wrote: > > A few years ago a bunch of people lobbied to get > Unique to > manufacture 16s with the correct offset for TLCs.
