Looks like the winch unit is complete and the PTO unit appears complete (more later). The owner didn't have the driveshaft at his shop when I picked up these two pieces and is sending it this week. Questions- I have quite a few Toyota service manuals and none detail any repair operations on the driveshaft. I assume there is a bracket on the driveshaft that bolts to the frame rail and contains a bearing, is that correct? Does anyone know if there is a difference (length, maybe) in the driveshafts between the FJ40 and FJ55? The PTO unit has a shifter handle, has a hole in it for mounting on some type of pivot bolt. Where does this shifter pivot, is there a bracket that mounts on the driver side of the transmission? The rubber floor mat in my 55 (also in my FJ40) has a cutout location for the PTO shifter, but I don't know where the handle mounts and pivots. Does anyone have an FJ55 equipped with a factory PTO winch? I'd love to see pictures so I can get an idea where everything mounts and what it all looks like installed. Where is the best place to look for parts if I need anything, like the shifter mount and the driveshaft? Any help will be sincerely appreciated. The PTO shifter is attached to a pivot post screwed into the side of the transmission. On FJ40s, there is a bracket under the radiator to which this carrier bearing is attached. I ultimately cut a hole in my floor and floormat to let the handle project through the floor. My winch was from a '76 FJ55 and I installed it on a '78 FJ40. Marv at SOR helped me out years ago in getting this pivot post bolt. I made the handles and linkages by hand, using sections of water pipe etc. for the handle. You might replace the seals in the PTO gearbox before you install it - easier to do it on the workbench. Steve
