Once again I'm emerging from lurker-land to ask about the new thingee I've just added to the toy (V8 GXV). This time a safari snorkel. Looks great. The kids think its 'fully sick' ( means cool I think). Can't wait to plunge into a river to see if it works. But I wonder about rain and dust..... 1. Rain, really heavy horizontal sheets of rain.....should I turn the ram at the top around back to front ? 2. Dust ( that is to say my annual 2 week trip off the blacktop)....should I fit a pre-cleaner, and if so what about a droopie (which I think is the foam boot you refer to cruiserman ?). http://www.uniflow.com.au/droopie.asp Thanks all, hope you had a great Xmas/New year break. Cheers, Brad. No need to turn the air ram around as the genuine Safari air ram does a good job of separating the water from the incoming air stream. See http://www.safari4x4.com.au/docs/snorkel/air_ram.htm > 2. The standard air cleaner element has a huge dust loading capacity - much greater than any of the aftermarket solutions - including the uniflow droopie. I personally don't like any pre-cleaners because of the significant restriction to air flow they cause. Hope this helps. Cheers gc '97 HDJ80 - Melbourne Oz
