I know that the mathematics exist (it's used in forensic analysis, as well as traffic-camera image-processing), and some folks say they have seen it run on a Mac somewhere, but I can't find much through Google, not even academic papers....the whole world seems fanatically occupied with *creating* motion blur....8-)) Hmm....in a develish way it's more EOS related than I first thought: if that software is available to consumers, for a decent price, Canon will sell less IS-lenses, and must drop it's price....:)) -- Bye, Willem-Jan Markerink The desire to understand is sometimes far less intelligent than the inability to understand [note: 'a-one' & 'en-el'!] Date: Tue, 05 Nov 2002 22:48:22 -0500 Subject: Re: EOS OT: software to correct motion blur From: Julian Loke To: "eos@a1.nl" Reply-To: eos@a1.nl Hi WJM, Deconvolution is a standard technique in micrography and astronomy. There is the commercial "AutoDeBlur", but you need a Silicon Graphics Workstation: http://www.p3i.com/deconvol.htm But there does exist a poorly documented deconvolution function in the Panotools suite. (Not "blind", in that you have to specify a Point-Spread Function): http://www.fh-furtwangen.de/~dersch/ Or from its mirror sites: http://home.no.net/dmaurer/~dersch/ http://www.all-in-one.ee/~dersch/ http://www.path.unimelb.edu.au/~dersch/ You should also try "Unshake", but it is a Java application - which might not run on your PC-AT (or was it an XT :-) http://www.hamangia.freeserve.co.uk/ At least the last one can be used easily with images from your EOS camera.
