Dear Mr. Markerink,
1). First of all I would like to thank you for your excellent
web pages which I have found, and still find, most useful.
2). As a 70mm. Hasselblad fan, I thought that you might like
the enclosed. I think it is comprehensive, although it is not always
obvious (to me) exactly which type is referred to.
3). What is worrying to me is the number of 70mm. films that
are only available in the US (&Canada).
4). I tried to order some 70mm. film at the weekend here in
Munich. My dealer said to me that since the beginning of this month
he has to order a minimum amount of 36 rolls i.e. 70*6*36=15120
exposures (about). Clearly, he can never hope to sell that amount
within the expiry date of the film. I wanted some Tri-X, Plus-X and
VPS i.e. 108 rolls!
5). I have written to Kodak to protest. I asked them whether
they were trying to kill the market by stipulating unreasonable and
impossible ordering conditions in order to be able to say that there is
no demand for the product.
6). I will inform you of their reaction (assuming I get one).
7). NSN appears to be some US governmental order number.

Theres no question about it.....Fuji mad a damn good 70mm portrait film
called Fujicolor 160NSP Professional Type S. It was great for student pictures
and family portraits. I may be wrong about this but I think it
has been discontinued....or just not being offered here in the states.
With Agfa 160, Konica 160, and VPS 160 all over the place, there just
isn't much room for one more hybrid like the Fuji offering. It has a
weak point about it; It is a thin film, vulnerable to scuffing and
scratching, and doesn't have that familiar extra emulsion base that
makes VPS so popular. I suppose it wouldn't retouch as well either.
Of that film that I did use. I had pretty good luck with it. The one roll
I have left in the deep freeze is dated 7-95. So we know it was around
as late as 1995.

Dear Mr Markerink,
We understood from past experiences that it is sometimes not easy to
locate suppliers for 70mm or for 126mm films. You will not find these
kind of films either withing the Agfa professional products assortment .
The industrial product range covers aerial products in the color range
that are derived from the professional product range. For aerial
applications often the emulsions from the professional products are
adopted . To conform to industrial and aerial demands, the film base is
pet and not triacetate . Anti-halo (glare) layers and substratum is also
different as they are to match the pet base properties. Nevertheless,
Agfa aerial films can be used as a substitute for professional products
as far as imaging qualtiy is concerned.
Agfa aerial colour films cover emulsions used in the professional product
range known as HDC200, HDC400 and Ultra films. They carry the names
Aviphot color N200, N400 and H100. The newest film in the aerial business
is the N400, based on the HDC400 film.

As H100 requires a special production run, only orders of minimum 100m²
are acceptable. H100 is a high resolution film with very high colour
saturation - what makes it a unique film for publicity imagery with
smashing colours or for taking pictures in foggy conditions - what can be
the case in panorama photography.

There are no minimum order quantities requested for abovelisted N200 and
N400 products..
* = coretypes are used in aerial cameras. Likely the end-user shall have
to rewind the film on his proper spools. On request we can detail on the
abovementioned spool types
