Ozzi's say 100k km's, but they tend to get worse fuel than we do in Europe. Still a cheap insurance against a bad injector 'pissing' (dripping) a hole in a piston....;)) > > We took other engines apart that had over 300.000km and found > > nothing > > ... or that this is not normally a problem? For pre-chamber diesels it doesn't matter one hoot, they just get dirtier if the injectors start to wear....but with direct injectors you are pointing direct down at the piston....if stuff goes wrong, it ain't cheap. Had both 1HD-T and 2H done at 200k km's, performance on both improved (in particular at lower rpm's). I'll let the Ozzi crowd chime in about their 100k rule....;)) -- Bye, Willem-Jan Markerink The desire to understand is sometimes far less intelligent than the inability to understand [note: 'a-one' & 'en-el'!] To: 80scool@yahoogroups.com From: "Craig Huxley" Date: Fri, 30 Jan 2004 06:30:02 -0000 Subject: [80] Re: Injector service @ 100k km (was HDJ-100 bigend problem? If you want serious erosion in the precombustion chamber then don't touch your injectors. On 2H's it was not uncommon for the erosion to cause failure of the pre-comb chamber which is OK since they are a pressed in part of teh head and can be replaced. However on a 1HZ you would be looking at a new head. Injector servicing is integral in all diesels (and petrols for that matter) regardless of the injection style. The crack pressure and the condition of the needle and seat determines the fuel atomisation so for the best efficiency service injectors and pumps regularly. That interval will be determined by far to many variables for any manual to say, however at a guide 150,000km for injectors, 250,000km for the pump. Cheers Craig
