Human nature is such, that despite your best intentions, something would come up on the screen that would draw your attention at the worst possible time. Afterwards, you would regret having defeated the system. In early 90's I participated in a test of a federally funded program under the title of the smart highway system. We equipted 24 Avis Oldsmobiles with realtime satellite navigation systems with LCD screens that would show the driver his routing and traffic conditions enroute. In less that 36 days, all 24 vehicles had been wrecked, 17 totalled, because the drivers were using the system and not watching the road. The system has since been modified to only allow video while the vehicle is in PARK and audio only while in motion. DF
