The german army (Bundeswehr) has a 8x8x8. It's a light wheel tank. The
whole drivetrain etc. is symmetric, so it can drive backwards as fast as
forward. For that purpose there is a second driver in the rear, fecing
backward. That person usually operates the radio communications. For
street operation the steering of the rear axles can be switched off.
