FROM: "Catherine Conway" SUBJECT: Steering problems with a cruiser DATE: Mon, 22 Jul 2002 07:42:43 +0930 NEWSGROUPS: aus.cars.offroad Hi guys I have a stock standard diesel landcrusier 80 series (1992). While returning from Arkaroola on the weekend, we found that it had lost some of the studs and sheared others that hold the steering bar on the LH front wheel. Symptoms were sloppy steering. We stopped and the steering bar fell off and the wheel fell over about 20-30degrees. We lost the diff oil (we think) from the front axle. Looking at the book, this looks like a separate failure of the seal. RAA Plus paid for itself multiple times with the cartage back from Lochiel. Waiting to see what CMI Toyota find this morning. Vehicle has 240,000km. Anyone else ever heard of these studs failing? -Cath
