First of all, a huge thanks to the lister (forget who) that pointed to the link with the Euro EPC. Very cool. Now, can someone talk to me about a headlight leveling system ? This sounds like a must have gadget. My US spec 80 is feeling very inadequate after some initial parts browsing. thanks, John MacDonald / Montreal, Canada /'95 FZJ-80 Borla / OME / 33 Gdyr AT / + 7 deg Red instruments / 40W Halo Domes 85W-85W Headlamps To: 80scool@yahoogroups.com From: bozza4president@yahoo.com Date sent: Tue, 12 Jun 2001 08:34:32 -0000 Send reply to: 80scool@yahoogroups.com Subject: [80] Re: Headlamp Leveling sys. ? A headlight leveling system (if you mean you can adjust the headlights from a control in the vehicle...like pointing them down when you are loaded up in the back, or pulling a trailer, and up if light in the back) are available in Japan. Not cheap. I seem to remember they are imported back from the States...not made in Japan...because they are a US Lexus option... Might pay to check out Lexus option parts somewhere... These have been fitted for a number of years as standard in the UK Landcruiser and they are factory fitted ex Japan. Almost all cars which are capable of towing are now fitted with electrically adjustable lights in most of Europe. Following your reply, I looked up the new 2002 parts catalogue here in Japan (each year, a few publishers put together a complete catalogue of available after-market-parts for all 4 x 4 models available in Japan). I found the headlight leveling system...sold by 88 House Japan. It is advertised as a High-Beam Leveling Headlight System...looks the same as the OEM headlights, except that the inner lense isn't a fog. The blurb says the EURO 80 SERIES LOOK...and convenience. Also says the equipment is manufactured in FINLAND, as per Toyota specs... I'm waiting for a reply from a large 4 x 4 shop here as to whether something original was ever fitted to L/C's for sale in Japan. Wednesday is an industry holiday here, so I won't know until tomorrow. But maybe someone in Europe knows the finnish maker of the above- mentioned system....? I received word today from several L/C specialists...in Japan...the headlight leveling system was not an option on any domestic 80 Series vehicles. The maker of this system is in Finland, suggesting that the option was fitted to European models in Europe. Bozza
