It might be mal-functioning. If it blows again, you may have a short in the brake light circuit. Trailer wiring harness would be a good place to start. The fuse for the brake light controls a safety switch on the shifter must have foot on brake to shift out of park when that fuse fail it doesnot know that you het the brake. john embrey To: 80scool@yahoogroups.com From: Julian Voelcker Date: Fri, 05 Mar 2004 15:00:10 GMT Subject: [80] Red button infront of Auto shift stick? Julian You can move the Auto out of Park by pushing it whilst the car is off. Helps when you work in the dash etc because then the Auto gear shift is in the way and you want to move it to 1st without starting the car. Or, worse scenario: having a fuse blown in the brake circuit, which prevents shifting out of Park, even with the engine running....8-)) http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/80_autolock.txt (note that adding a tirecarrier with extra brake lights might shift the point of failure to the next time you hook up a trailer....BTDT....;(( (thank god I did not have a slushbox....;)) Btw, just curious: do all slushboxes show this behaviour, with a blown brake-light fuse? There is some kind of solenoid in there, so one way or the other it *must* have a fuse....brake-light or separate. -- Bye, Willem-Jan Markerink The desire to understand is sometimes far less intelligent than the inability to understand [note: 'a-one' & 'en-el'!]
