Is it possible to convert this to a Manual lever on the floor? I heard rumor that a new transfer case housing would be needed, is this right? What (else) would I need in order to turn the transfercase into a manual shift for all positions? Also, if the solenoid goes south, is it possible to use non toyota parts to replace it? Is there something special about the solinoids design that precludes alternatives? "Late model" BJ60s (85 was the only year for the BJs) HJ60s came with vacuum shift. >Is it possible to convert this to a Manual lever on the floor? Shift linkage bits, a stud for the side of the tranny, a shifter knob that shows the correct pattern ;) >Also, if the solenoid goes south, is it possible to use non toyota parts >to replace it? I built a solenoid pack for a 24V HJ60 using the old-style MAC solenoids that are the 24V version of what USED to come with the ARBs. Roughly US$34 for the pair. The final setup isn't quite as sexy as the factory one, but it does the job and will probably last as long or longer. -- Rob Mullen RAMullen@wimsey.com North Vancouver, B.C., Canada TLC FAQ & TT Story Editor TLCA #3036, Coastal Cruisers '80 Toyota BJ40/2 Land Cruiser Why walk?...When you can CRAWL!
