I'm interested in establishing a production timeline for the 3B, listing changes of any sort that were made over the years. Here's what I (think I) know: 1980 - production starts. 1983 - ? rear-most block bosses tapped for bellhousing supports ? 1987 - injection pump changed to rotary instead of inline 1990 - production ends. Not much of a list yet. But it would be useful to people (like Jeff) who want to swap engines. Anyone got any info? Corrections welcome too. Does anyone know which 3Bs in particular produced 90, 93 and 98 hp respectively? What changes, when, for what markets? ____________________________________________________________ damian lopes Port Credit Ontario BJ Series Land Cruisers 1982 BJ60, two 1981 BJ42 (1 in parts, 1 for parts) From: CLynch6991@aol.com Date sent: Wed, 27 Oct 1999 11:19:10 EDT Subject: Re: [DTLC] 3B Swapping To: dtlc@helios.net Send reply to: dtlc@helios.net In a message dated 10/27/99 9:06:03 AM Central Daylight Time, cruisers@bitwalla.com writes: << 1980 - production starts. 1983 - ? rear-most block bosses tapped for bellhousing supports ? 1987 - injection pump changed to rotary instead of inline 1990 - production ends. It also has a vacuum pump driven from the crank rather than the alternator unit. It fits below the injection pump. There is no edic or other electronic control on the engine. Ive been told it has 98 HP. The 3B is still in production in this form but I dont think its used in cruisers anymore. Toyota Australia still list it as the motor for the SWB Coaster bus. Power is 71kW@3500 and torque is 230@2200. The LWB models get the 1HZ motor.
