She was making several stops (probably garage sale-ing). Any how, on her final stop as she stepped out of the vehicle she stepped into a nice puddle of oil. I am very glad that I spent years teaching my beloved one the "ins and outs" of "things that make you go". She leaned over to see where the oil was coming from. Lo and behold it was from our LC. So to shorten this story up, it was towed out to the dealer and after about a day they had it up and running again. The culprit was a freeze plug placed in the oil gallery about the size of a pencil eraser. The Reason the dealer found this so quick was because one of the techs remembered that it had happened about ten years before. Is this a common problem with all toy's or is it rare that this fails. This might be old hat for you, I don't know. Anyone? It fills a cross hole that is drilled to allow oil flow to rocker gear. Yes, the plug did sometimes come out, but it was a pretty rare occurrence. Like anything bad that happens, the news travels fast. As far as I can remember, this plug exists on all 2F and 3F engines. It is in the head just above the distributor and is angled acutely toward the front of the engine. It is about 3mm diameter. If anyone has a 2f or 3F, and is concerned about this potential problem, it is an easy matter to drill and tap the hole to take a small threaded plug, or to simply peen over the cast iron so that the aluminium pug cannot pop out.
