Approximately eight weeks ago I posted a message regarding a tick or
clicking noise in my motor at low revs. The consensus was that it was not
unusual or a problem. I decided I couldn't live with the noise, so I
persevered with Toyota ( this is an epic in itself :-) A tale of Three
Dealerships) and can happily report that the noise is gone. Injector nozzles
were replaced, fuel pump stripped and after many attempts to locate source
of the problem, the head was removed and nothing was found to be out of
order. In the end I suggested that they try a completely new set of
injectors, this seems to have worked as the noise is gone.

 

At one stage the technician mentioned to me he battled to remove the
injectors from the head .This lead me to suppose that they had been over-
torqued at some stage, according to the manual this can lead to deformation
and needle adhesion, this would not show up under test conditions but once
the motor was working at normal temp it would show up. 

 

Does anyone have any experience of this?
