Reply-To: dtlc@helios.net While I was updating my site with a link to a gallery containing some nice shots of a HZJ-78 camper on Michelin 9.00x16 XZL (at least one of them on 5.5" OEM split rims, a detail someone asked me recently by email).... http://www.desert-tec.de/html/bilder.html (only some of those 75/78's are on 9.00, not all!) ....I also noticed that I might not have the engine-coding correct in another link, to the Australian HDJ-78/79....I wrote 1HD-TE back then (as per the last site below), but the F is for the 24-valve designation, not the intercooler, right? (it does not have an intercooler, but it probably does have 24 valves(?)) http://www.wintoy.com.au/newsletter/LC78TD.html http://www.wintoy.com.au/Brochures/Landcruiser78/index.html The above 3 are the only links I have found on the Net thusfar btw, quite sad actually....any more links around? And is it indeed 1HD-TE, instead of 1HD-FT? Or does it indeed have the 12 valves of the old one, plus electronics added? Electronics the 1HD-FT in the last version of HDJ-80 never had? -- Bye, Willem-Jan Markerink The desire to understand is sometimes far less intelligent than the inability to understand [note: 'a-one' & 'en-el'!] From: "Greg Goulden" To: Subject: Re: [DTLC] Which 1HD in the HDJ-78/79? Willem, The HDJ78 and HDJ79 use the 1HD-FTE motor, 24 valves just like the 1HD-FT in the 80 series, but with a high pressure electronic controlled fuel injection pump. The HDJ78/79's also miss out on the factory intercooler which the same engine 1HD-FTE uses in the HDJ100. Power output in the HDJ78/79 is 122kW vs 151kw in the HDJ100.
