FROM: "Steve Pickering" SUBJECT: Re: Waeco Fridge/freezers DATE: Tue, 30 Apr 2002 07:57:04 +1000 ORGANIZATION: University of Queensland NEWSGROUPS: aus.cars.offroad I seem to recall the Waeco's being a good fridge when I was shopping for one late last year. My concerns over the fridge were the durability of the plastic casing and how to tie it down and still get in and out of it. I did the usual thing and went for the Engel for the long term reputation, nationwide service and spares, metal shell and tie down handles. The new model is pretty quiet when operating although I have not compared it side by side to a Waeco I know it is soooo much quieter than the Supakool and Trailblaza. Current draw is pretty good as well. I got nearly 3 days out of mine over Easter with frequent opening and replenishing of beer stocks before the battery was spent. I remember the Waeco's being exceptional value for money. If it delivers what you want then I'd go for it. They have been used for years by truckies overseas, but you can't really compare European road conditions to those that road trains and 4wd's might experience over here. This is completely untrue. Danfoss makes the very best and most widely used portable refrigeration compressors in the world. These compressors are used by most manufacturers. THERE IS ONLY ONE DANFOSS COMPRESSOR for this purpose and they are ALL MADE IN GERMANY. WAECO is the world’s biggest user of Danfoss DC compressors and buys more than all other manufacturers combined. WAECO Australia has on file a letter from the Division President of Danfoss in Germany which clearly states that compressors used by WAECO are identical to those used by all other manufacturers. --------- That page goes on to dispell many other "rumours" about Waeco fridges. I have one, and love it - shits all over my previous engel. Cheers, Andrew. BLA BLA BLAH Before you get too carried away please read what I wrote and think about it before going off half cocked like you did Here I have pasted it again to save you some trouble >> Yes but not all Waecos are made in germany!! >> >> The lower models are made in China Nowhere did I say that Danfoss compressors are made in China I did say some of the lower models of Waeco fridges are made in China though SEE the difference!!!!!!!!!!! no Danfoss in the sentence. Waeco and Danfoss are not the same Danfoss makes the compressors, Waeco and a lot of others build them into refrigerators. I am a refrigeration mechanic by trade, the name Danfoss is pretty familiar to me and they are a actually Danish company but make their compressors in Germany among other places Heres a URL for you so you can see I'm not bullshitting http://www.danfoss.com/museum/history/Articles/hermetic_compressor.htm Back to my comments my partner managed a camping store and sold both engels and waecos, I did not say they were shit however from past experience I would buy a German or Japanese made product before I bought a Chinese one. Actually my partner probably sold more waecos than engels as they are better value for money in the larger sizes Have a nice day Darryn -- remove the to reply please FROM: Darryn SUBJECT: Re: Waeco Fridge/freezers DATE: Wed, 01 May 2002 10:29:05 +0800 NEWSGROUPS: aus.cars.offroad On Mon, 29 Apr 02 20:08:20 GMT, w.j.markerink@a1.nl (Willem-Jan Markerink) wrote: >In article , > Darryn wrote: >>On Mon, 29 Apr 02 01:20:29 GMT, w.j.markerink@a1.nl (Willem-Jan >>Markerink) wrote: >> >>The lower models are made in China > >You mean the peltier-element models? >Or just the smaller-volume compressor models? >(since the compressor is the same for many sizes I doubt you mean >those....and mounting the Danfoss compressor in China doesn't make all that much >sense either) My Partner is over east at the moment so I cant tell you exactly I will find out exactly when she comes back I think it was the lower end refrigerated ones Darryn
