Are you sure? I thought it only went in a different, slower mode....or does that apply merely to the center diff lock?....I thought the new ABS could cope with a locked center in both high and low range (previous generation could not, hence the visco LSD on '93-98/ABS, instead of the manual switch for high range on '90-92/non-ABS). -- Bye, Willem-Jan Markerink The desire to understand is sometimes far less intelligent than the inability to understand [note: 'a-one' & 'en-el'!] From: "Zeffer" To: <80_series@sgiblab.sgi.com> Subject: Re: [80] 100 series center diff lock Date sent: Mon, 28 Feb 2000 17:33:46 -0000 Organization: Zeffinc-co Send reply to: 80_series@sgiblab.sgi.com Hi All, Hold on to your hats for the proven definitive answer for centre lock on 100 Series :-) Firstly, the ABS works in both high and low transfer ratios. ABS is only deactivated when the rear axle diff lock is engaged. Under the car, almost directly above the rear propshaft output and only about 5cms. above the top of the shaft are two plunger switches, one of which has a grey connector vertically up, and the other which is at a 2 o'clock angle. It is this second connector that needs to be pulled apart to disable the default setting of centre diff locked in low range. As far as I can see there is no further effect from disconnecting this switch on any system including ABS, so leave everything else alone. Please, for safety, remember to lock the centre diff lock [by the switch on the dash] before venturing on to a slippery surface, especially on a slope. ENJOY! :-)) Huw Huw Williams aka. It can still be operated from the dashboard switch for both the high and low ranges - exactly what I wanted. Now I have to find out how to disable the ABS. Thanks for all the help.
