Stuff in this conf is really valuable After lots of long and loud complaining the problem finally got escalated to the TMC Tech. Dept Manager. The guy was really helpful and carried out a new test himself The outside air temp was +35C in Cronulla and surprise..surprise the AC fell on its face and performed under Toyota's own spec. They then tested a brand new Cruiser (4.2TD) and once again proved what I've been telling them for the third summer in a row - that my AC is F%CKED Now they've seen it for themselves the ball gets rolling. They have instructed the dealer to replace the condensor and compressor. Landcruiser 100GXL late 98 owners - be aware of this problem as well as the annoying slipping A/C clutch issue when the A/C intermittently cuts out on low rev which is very annoying both in traffic and while offroading. The slipping thing emits a high pitch squeaking sound under the bonnet which the dealer diagnosed as a 'rock in the brakes'... :-) If you have this problem jump on your dealer or call TMC Aust Customer Service - they are aware of it, I'll try to get the service bullet. number and post it here If your A/C underperforms complain loudly both to the dealer and TMC, obtain a copy of their performance test for HFC134 and CFC12 paper and get yourself a digital thermometer with a probe on a long cord and humidity meter in one compact unit(~$45 from Dick Smith) so that you can BYO as most likely your dealer won't have a wet-n-dry bulb thermometer required for the test (school labs have them, dealers don't.. :) The louder your complain the sooner the problem gets fixed I should've started jumping up and down long time ago, just took me too long to stop 'breathing fire' :-) rgrds ostc Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/
